Future Skills Series

This program was led by the Bunbury Geographe Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BGCCI), and the Bunbury Geographe Economic Alliance (BGEA), facilitated by Workforce Australia and supported by the South West Development Commission (SWDC) and Regional Development Australia.

Our objective was to start the conversation between educators and industry to review the future skills required and ifentify any potential gaps in the Bunbury Geographe region.
Our primary intention is to provide a comprehensive analysis of the evolving skill landscape and the challenges and opportunities it presents.

We aim to:

  1. Identify Emerging Skills: We will delve into the skills that are expected to become increasingly important in our region in the next five years, considering factors such as technological advancements, industry trends, and societal changes.
  2. Assess Current Skill Gaps: We will assess the existing skill gaps within our workforce, examining areas where there is a misalignment between the skills available and those demanded by employers and industries.
  3. Explore Educational and Training Solutions: We will explore potential solutions for bridging these skill gaps, including educational programs, workforce training initiatives, and collaboration between educational institutions and industry stakeholders.
  4. Consider the Impact on Economic Development: We will analyse how addressing these skill gaps can contribute to regional economic growth and competitiveness, considering both short-term and long-term implications.
  5. Highlight Opportunities for Stakeholders: We intend to provide actionable insights for policymakers, educators, employers, and individuals to proactively respond to the evolving skill requirements in our region.

We aim to provide all participants with a well-structured and informative overview that will aid in strategic decision-making and foster regional development in the face of evolving skill demands.
