The Local Legends CBD Activation is a project developed through the Town Team Movement meetings, which are facilitated by the Bunbury Geographe CCI - aimed at bringing vibrancy, storytelling and local pride back into Bunbury’s city centre.
Designed to celebrate some of our region’s sporting icons ahead of the AFL Big Weekender in Bunbury, the activation transforms vacant shopfronts into engaging visual displays that recognise local football legends and their connection to the South West.
This project reflects the collaborative spirit of the Town Team Movement, bringing together local businesses, community members and stakeholders to create a more welcoming and activated CBD.
A special thank you to our local football clubs for their generosity in sharing historical photos and helping preserve these important stories, and to Commercial Realty for their support in liaising with landlords and allowing us to utilise the shopfronts of vacant local stores for this activation.
As Bunbury welcomes visitors for the AFL Big Weekender this June, this activation serves as both a celebration of our sporting history and a reminder of the strong community spirit that continues to shape our region.
