Psychosocial safety has been a formal requirement under WHS legislation since 2023. Yet for many organisations, it still feels unclear, difficult to prioritise, or disconnected from the realities of leadership and performance.

Most leaders aren’t struggling because they don’t care. They’re struggling because:

· people respond differently to the same pressures

· change impacts teams in unpredictable ways

· what motivates one person can overwhelm another

· and traditional “one-size-fits-all” approaches no longer work

This Lunch & Learn is designed for business owners, senior leaders and HR professionals who want a clearer, more practical way to manage psychosocial risk, without turning it into a compliance burden or another disconnected initiative.

Delivered by Craig Baker, COO of The Culture Curator, this session explores why managing psychosocial risk is genuinely complex, and how leaders can respond with greater confidence, agility and impact.

Why this session is different

Rather than starting with legislation or checklists, this session starts with people.

Using neuroscience-backed approaches to understanding human behaviour at work, Craig will unpack why:

· the same role can feel energising to one person and draining to another

· well-intended leadership decisions can land very differently across a team

· and why psychosocial risk often shows up as conflict, disengagement or resistance, long before it shows up as a formal issue

This perspective helps leaders move away from blame or guesswork, and towards informed, flexible responses.

Introducing a practical framework for leaders

Participants will be introduced to a clear, practical leadership framework that helps simplify psychosocial risk management while still acknowledging human complexity.

The framework:

· breaks psychosocial risk into manageable focus areas

· helps leaders understand where to pay attention first

· and provides a structure that supports both compliance and culture improvement

This isn’t about doing more. It’s about doing the right things, in the right order.

What you’ll experience in the session

The session will:

· explore why psychosocial risk is harder to manage than traditional safety risks

· introduce a leadership-led way to think about psychosocial risk and culture together

· walk through a sample psychosocial risk assessment process to demystify what “good” looks like in practice

· help leaders see how better insight leads to better decisions, not more paperwork

The focus is practical, realistic and grounded in real workplaces, not theory.

Who this session is for

This Lunch & Learn is ideal for:

· Business owners and directors

· Senior leaders and people managers

· HR and People & Culture professionals

· Anyone responsible for people, performance or compliance

If you’ve ever thought “this feels harder than it should be” - this session is for you.

What you’ll take away

By the end of the session, participants will walk away with:

· a clearer way to think about psychosocial risk in their own organisation

· greater confidence in where to start (and what matters most)

· insight into how leadership behaviour, systems and culture intersect

· a practical lens they can apply immediately - without overwhelm

This session isn’t about perfection. It’s about clarity, confidence and progress.

Why attend

Psychosocial safety isn’t just a legal obligation. It’s a leadership challenge - and a leadership opportunity.

With the right lens, it becomes far more manageable.
