Presented alongside Euphorium, this webinar will explore Regional Revitalisation in CBDs and what worked to revitalise Geraldton

What does it take for a regional city to not only revitalise its centre but sustain it? Over the past decade Geraldton’s CBD has moved from vacancy and uncertainty to a place that is once again alive with business and community. Today, new food and retail businesses are flourishing, long-abandoned lots are being reimagined, and the city centre has rediscovered its role as a heart for people and commerce.

This transformation did not happen overnight. It emerged from looking back and remembering the stories of the city centre, from the scars of burned-down buildings to the energy of community festivals and experiments. By drawing on its history Geraldton has been able to build a culture of creativity and new ideas.

Projects like Blue Heelers Square, a community-driven reinvention of a pub site left in ashes, and the Town Team Movement Do-Over project, which mobilised the community to reimagine its CBD together, show how remembering the past can create the conditions for a more vibrant future.

But revitalisation is only the beginning. The next challenge for regional centres is to look ahead. How do we adapt to megatrends in retail, technology, and community life? How do we keep city centres alive not just today but into the future?

This webinar offers grounded case studies, practical frameworks, and insights from across WA to help regional leaders, Chambers, and connectors carry forward a culture of imagination and sustained vitality.
