Words from the CEO - May 2022

CEO Update

At a time when it is critical for businesses to attract and retain great employees, the strategies you choose and the culture you build can be the difference between someone staying on and stepping up their game or leaving altogether.

With the relaxation of restrictions, I was hoping business would have some time to take a breath. My sense however, is that this is not the time to take your focus off your staff or their development. The great resignation/reshuffle is said to be the next challenge knocking at our door. With people feeling more confident of a return to “normal”, the potential side effect is that people are re-evaluating what is important to them. Do my values align with that of the organisation? Do I like my working environment? Are there opportunities for development? Am I being challenged? And then there’s the even more fundamental question… Am I happy?

While there is no silver bullet to address this multifaceted challenge, demonstrating how much you value your staff by investing in their development is a great way for you to also build your own business capability at the same time.

BGCCI is making this possible with the introduction of free and exclusive access to the SW Leaders Program (SWLP) for all BGCCI financial members. The SWLP includes monthly online discussion forums, recorded webinars, keynote speaker events, monthly newsletters as well as the opportunity to participate in a Mentor:Mentee program supported by monthly development content and breakfast and sundowner events to assist with networking and learning. A program like this would be very expensive for each participant registered. However, BGCCI is providing free access to all employees registered by our members.

If you are not yet a member of the BGCCI, now is the time to join. Become a part of this exciting period of change as the BGCCI leads our business community to grow and develop the potential in the region. We want to support you and help your business flourish.
