CEO Update

To all our valued Members,

Thank you for your support over the last 12 months. Thank you for your engagement, for your feedback, for your guidance and for your membership. Without you we would not exist.

We are here to serve you and to build a community of diverse business professionals, growing and learning from one another.

“Acknowledgement and celebration are essential to fuelling passion, making people feel valid and valuable, and giving the team a real sense of progress that makes it all worthwhile.” – Dwight Frindt

In the New Year we will be launching our Emerging Leaders program for our Members to join an amazing group of senior leaders in a mentor and mentee arrangement. In preparation of this we were invited to a live webinar with Steve Hall, Senior Chaplin, NSW State Emergency Service and in his presentation, he shared what makes a good leader. Steve has seen it all when it comes to emergencies and crisis responses. He emphasised that at the heart of every good leader, every good person is the self-awareness to reflect and look after yourself. How can you serve others as a leader if you are not looking after yourself?

As a Chamber we understand the hard work, long hours and resilience of our members throughout the last year while making the most of a booming economy. However, we hope that you can find some time across the Christmas period to pause, take a breath, recharge and look after yourselves. The power of the pause allows you to reflect on what went well and what went wrong; this allows you to make intentional changes that will not happen by themselves. The pause allows you to regroup and question if you are on the right track or off course. Taking the pause will allow you to personally identify your gaps and strategies. Don’t assume this will occur automatically, taking the pause facilitates deeper learning, advancing our skills and happiness.

The Chamber will be closed from 1:00pm Friday 17th December and reopening on Monday, 10 January 2022.

In the meantime, we wish everyone of you a Merry Christmas and a peaceful, prosperous New Year.

Kristy Gillian
