CEO Update

Kaya.

April is here and with it we welcome the Noongar season of Djeran with some well needed rainfall. The colours of Autumn are quickly creeping onto our landscape and signal a significant change in weather patterns. We have all experienced so much change over the last few years it’s hard to remember what life and business was like prior to 2020 and the COVID-19 outbreak.

The Chamber has been going through a change of its own. While we haven’t renovated Chamber house, the Chamber as you know it has been changing, learning and evolving. We have just launched our new website which brings a fresh and modern look to our online presence, with interactive features and improved user experience. Highlighting current projects and membership benefits, our new website captures the transition that the BGCCI is currently going through.

2022 also marks BGCCI’s 125th anniversary. Through the years, the Chamber has been responsible for advocating on behalf of the local business community, assisting businesses to build their capacity and capability and strengthen their network of business contacts. We have delivered key projects and events that have helped to build the local community and contribute to the economic growth within the region.

When I started in this role, I reviewed the benefits of Chamber membership. One thing was clear, many in our community, both members and non-members were unclear of the role of the Chamber and the benefits of membership. Both the Executive Committee and staff have been working tirelessly to ensure that what we deliver is relevant and meets the needs of our members. We know that you are time poor and so we’ve designed a number of online options that will be rolled out this year. Behind the scenes, we have also been facilitating a range of new benefits while also better articulating the existing benefits of membership.

When you become a member of BGCCI you are supporting the entire business community. When the Chamber membership grows so too does the opportunities to our local businesses. As a member of the BGCCI, you join a network of innovative, dedicated professionals that are here to support you – Membership Matters. Membership of the BGCCI ensures that there is an independent organisation representing and supporting all businesses and organisations in this region.
