Local business leaders will have the opportunity to hear first-hand insights from the Reserve Bank of Australia at a special economic update hosted by the Bunbury Geographe Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BGCCI).

The session will feature Ellen Waterman, Senior Representative of the RBA’s Western Australian Office, and Jo Embry, Lead Economist for WA. The pair will provide a timely breakdown of the RBA’s February Statement on Monetary Policy, discussing current economic conditions, inflation trends and the factors shaping Australia’s outlook for 2026.

Ms Waterman leads the Bank’s business liaison program in WA and has more than 12 years’ experience across finance, risk management and internal audit at the RBA. Prior to joining the Bank, she worked in external audit with KPMG. She is a Chartered Accountant and Certified Internal Auditor, holding a Bachelor of Commerce from UWA and a Master’s degree from Birmingham City University.

Ms Embry, the RBA’s WA-based economist, contributes to national economic analysis and payments policy work, drawing on her experience across several departments over the past seven years. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce with Honours in Economics from UWA and a Master of Science (Economics) from Tilburg University in the Netherlands.

The briefing will help local businesses better understand national trends, interest rate settings and the broader economic forces influencing decision-making in the South West.

The event is complimentary and exclusive for members of the BGCCI, with spaces limited.

A breakfast grazing table with tea and coffee will be provided.
